The correct 315/80R22.5 tire pressure depends on actual axle load, single or dual fitment, the tire’s exact load range and any speed or rim restriction. This size includes standard Load Range L data, speed-restricted high-load data and product-specific rim limitations.
Do not assume that every 315/80R22.5 tire can carry the highest value shown in a databook. The highest capacity may apply only to a speed-restricted construction, a specific product or an approved 9.00-inch rim.

| 85 psi | 2,910 | 5,820 | 2,650 | 10,600 |

| 115 psi | 3,590 | 7,180 | 3,270 | 13,080 |
| 120 psi | 3,750 | 7,500 | 3,450 | 13,800 |
| 125 psi | 3,960 | 7,920 | 3,600 | 14,400 |
| 130 psi | 4,125 (L) | 8,250 | 3,750 (L) | 15,000 |
These are published Continental values for standard 315/80R22.5 Load Range L service. The axle columns are multiplication of the per-tire figures and assume balanced loading. They do not override the rated capacity of the vehicle, axle, wheel or local road limit.

Standard versus speed-restricted high load
| Published 130 psi reference | Single kg/tire | Dual kg/tire | Condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Load Range L table | 4,125 | 3,750 | Use the standard product table |
| Speed-restricted LRL table | 4,540 | 4,125 | Only where the exact tire and speed restriction approve it |
| Continental Conti HSC 3 product | 4,625 | 4,125 | Load Range L product data on approved rim |
The extra load in the LRL row is conditional. It cannot be applied to a standard tire or used without the stated speed restriction. Likewise, a product-specific 4,625 kg single rating belongs to that exact tire, not to every tire of the same size.
The 8.25-inch rim restriction
Continental’s Conti HSC 3 data permits 315/80R22.5 on 9.00- and certain 8.25-inch rims, but publishes a specific restriction for the 8.25-inch rim: maximum 8,000 lb single and 7,610 lb dual per tire at 120 psi. Therefore the 130 psi product maximum must not be transferred to that rim configuration.
Always confirm approved rim width and wheel pressure capacity. The tire’s maximum does not increase the rim’s rating.
Selecting pressure from axle load
For a steer axle weighing 7,250 kg, each tire carries 3,625 kg if balanced. The standard table supports 3,590 kg at 115 psi, which is insufficient, and 3,750 kg at 120 psi. Therefore 120 psi is the first published row supporting that measured load before any approved operating reserve.
For a dual axle weighing 13,400 kg, nominal load is 3,350 kg per tire. The 115 psi row supports 3,270 kg and is insufficient; the 120 psi row supports 3,450 kg. Never use the single column for a dual assembly.
Operating procedure
- Weigh the normally loaded vehicle, preferably by wheel position.
- Read the complete sidewall service description and rim approval using the sidewall markings guide.
- Use the standard, LRL or product-specific table that actually belongs to the tire.
- Select a published cold-pressure row supporting the measured load; do not interpolate.
- Apply the lowest tire, rim, valve, axle or vehicle limit.

Check pressure cold and do not bleed a hot tire back to the cold target. Keep duals matched in specification, remaining diameter and pressure. A documented fleet pressure-management process helps control these conditions.
Technical caveats
- 130 psi is not the correct pressure for every load.
- Do not apply speed-restricted loads to standard service.
- Confirm the 8.25-inch rim restriction before using higher rows.
- Individual wheel loads are preferable to axle averages.
- No value between published pressure rows has been inferred.
Frequently asked questions
There is no universal PSI. Use measured axle load and the exact standard, speed-restricted or product-specific manufacturer table.
No. It is a published endpoint for some Load Range L products. Lower loads may require a lower published row, and rim or speed restrictions may apply.
It is a higher-load table whose capacity is conditional on the manufacturer’s stated speed restriction. It cannot be used for unrestricted standard service.
Some products approve it with restrictions. Continental’s cited Conti HSC 3 data limits that rim configuration to 8,000 lb single and 7,610 lb dual at 120 psi.
Divide a balanced axle load by four and use the dual column for the exact tire. Select a published cold-pressure row supporting at least that load.
