Load index 148 corresponds to 3,150 kg, while 149 corresponds to 3,250 kg. Therefore a 152/149 tire has 100 kg more rated capacity per tire in dual fitment than a 152/148 tire. On a four-tire axle, that is a 400 kg theoretical difference before vehicle, axle, wheel and legal limits are applied.
The final letter is equally important. M corresponds to 130 km/h and K to 110 km/h. A city tire with 152/149K must not be described as equivalent to a regional 152/149M product merely because the load indexes match.

For a single-fitment steer axle weighing 6,100 kg, each tire carries 3,050 kg if the load is balanced. The 95 psi row supports 3,020 kg and is insufficient; the 100 psi row supports 3,140 kg. Therefore 100 psi is the first published row in this table that supports the measured load, before the fleet applies any approved reserve.
For a dual axle weighing 11,350 kg, each tire nominally carries 2,837.5 kg. The 105 psi dual row supports 2,800 kg per tire and is insufficient; the 110 psi row supports 2,910 kg. Side-to-side or inner-to-outer imbalance can invalidate simple division, so individual wheel-position weights are preferable.
Regional, winter and city specifications
Sailun’s product data demonstrates how application changes the specification. The Transport Pro D is a regional drive product marked 152/149M and listed at 123 psi. The SAW1 winter all-position tire is 152/148M and listed at 125 psi, while the SDR1 regional drive tire carries the same 152/148M service description but is listed at 123 psi.
The City Convoy is 152/149K, supports the same 3,550 kg single and 3,250 kg dual loads as the Transport Pro D, but uses the lower K speed symbol and a 130 psi reference for urban bus duty. Same size and same load indexes do not make the products operationally identical.
Hankook also lists a 154/149M example at 3,750 kg single and 3,250 kg dual, with a 123 psi published reference. Its higher single load index is a product-specific capability. It cannot be assigned to a 152-rated tire.

- Weigh the normally loaded vehicle by axle, preferably by wheel position.
- Confirm single or dual fitment and read the complete service description. Use the sidewall markings guide if needed.
- Open the current manufacturer table for that exact product and market.
- Select a published cold-pressure row that supports at least the actual load. Do not interpolate an unlisted PSI.
- Confirm rim, valve, axle, vehicle and legal limits, then apply the approved fleet reserve.
Check pressure cold and never bleed a hot tire back to its cold target. Duals should be matched in specification, remaining diameter and pressure.
