58 new electric buses hit the streets of Ho Chi Minh City

VinBus has announced the deployment of 58 electric buses on routes 33 and 150 in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), marking a new milestone in the city’s green transport roadmap.

On the morning of December 26, VinBus Ecological Transport Services Co., Ltd. held a ceremony to announce the conversion of bus routes No. 33 and No. 150 to electric operation in HCMC.
Accordingly, from December 27, 2025, 58 VinFast EB 8 electric buses officially entered service on route 33 (An Suong Bus Station – Suoi Tien – Vietnam National University HCMC) and route 150 (Cho Lon Bus Station – New Eastern Bus Station).

Integrated vehicles, services and green infrastructure

This move represents the next step in the roadmap for transitioning public transport vehicles toward greener solutions, in line with the goal of 100% electric and green-energy buses in HCMC by 2030.
All newly deployed vehicles belong to a modern generation of buses, powered by smooth and quiet electric drivetrains, reducing noise and producing zero emissions, well suited to urban traffic conditions.

Alongside vehicle investment, VinBus continues to maintain synchronized service standards, with professionally trained drivers and attendants, standardized operating procedures, and a service-oriented approach focused on safety and civility.

To ensure stable operations, VinBus has deployed a charging infrastructure system consisting of 25 charging units with a capacity of 120 kW, arranged to meet the actual operational needs of the two routes.

Joint efforts to promote green transport

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Bui Hoa An, Deputy Director of the HCMC Department of Construction, said the city highly appreciates VinBus’s proactive spirit, strong commitment, and systematic approach in completing the full conversion of vehicles on routes 33 and 150 to electric buses, while still ensuring stable and continuous operations.

According to him, this transition aligns with Decision No. 876/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on the action program for green energy transition in the transport sector, as well as directives from the HCMC People’s Committee on controlling and mitigating environmental pollution.

Also at the event, Mr. Nguyen Cong Nhat, CEO of VinBus, emphasized that buses are not merely a means of transport but an integral part of urban life. VinBus is committed to continuously improving the quality of each journey—making it cleaner, smoother and more comfortable—thus contributing to a more livable city.

According to Mr. Pham Ngoc Dung, Director of the HCMC Public Transport Management Center, route 33 mainly serves students, while route 150 meets travel demand to medical facilities and key urban areas.
The introduction of electric buses on these high-demand routes is expected to create a ripple effect, accelerating the greening of the city’s bus network and gradually realizing the goal of developing a green, safe and sustainable public transport system in Ho Chi Minh City.
